Students studying in London will probably find themselves with plenty of spare time on their hands, but not a lot of spare cash at their disposal. The combination of these two factors leaves students in a difficult position.

So what cool things are there to do on the cheap in London? Read on for inspiration and if you do find yourself flush with money and fancy a short break overseas at the end of term then check out websites like Eurobookings.com for cheap deals.

Become a culture vulture

Tate Modern

London has a host of world-class museums that are free of charge to visit. From the Tate Modern on the banks of the River Thames to the Science Museum, there’s bound to be something to appeal depending on what mood you’re in. Compile a list of all the museums you’d like to visit – a comprehensive list can be found here – and then tick them off as you visit each and every one of them.

Go shopping on a shoe-string budget

Camden Market

You could easily spend a fortune shopping in London. However, there are plenty of bargains to be had if you know when and where to look. Head to places such as Camden Markets to buy pretty much anything or everything. Borough Market is an ideal place to pick up fresh food and source the best in local produce at low, low prices.

Cheap and free comedy

There are comedy nights and comedy gigs held in many of London’s boroughs every night of the week, many of which are cheap or free to attend. Keep an eye on websites such as Chortle and on Twitter as the likes of Frankie Boyle regularly announce ‘secret’ gigs at places such as The Hen And Chickens bar in Highbury to test out new material ahead of nationwide tours.
