How to attract a big Instagram following like Dan Bilzerian

If we’re being honest about it, when we start a public-facing Instagram account, it’s because we want to attract followers. It’s an easy way of getting your ego massaged – people find you and become interested in what you’re doing because of the snaps you put onto your account. The more people that take an interest, the more you like it, so you start to do your best to increase your followers and retain their interest.
But with more than 300 million active Instagrammers out there, how easy is it to get other users’ attention, and be interesting enough for them to want to follow you? If you’re a celebrity, you’re off to a winning start, of course. People know who they are already; they’re unlikely to have only heard of a celebrity because of Instagram. However, there is one notable exception to this rule and that’s poker-playing, extravagant lifestyle-liver Dan Bilzerian, who’s probably more famous than he otherwise would be thanks to Instagram.
In case you are one of the few who’s never heard of him, check out the fun Bilzerian collection here at bgo, the online gaming site. Dan lives the life that many men can only dream of; he’s surrounded by sexy girls, he wins stacks of cash by playing poker and spends a lot of time on yachts, riding superbikes, driving huge jeeps and flying in private jets. How do we know all this? Because he posts what’s he gets up to on Instagram and now has more than 6 million followers. His Instagram fame may also have been instrumental in getting him the latest bgo TV ad – where he stars alongside the face of bgo, Verne Troyer.
But what if you’re not a celeb like Dan? What can you do with your Instagram account to keep people interested? Take a look at the suggestions below for how to ensure that your Instagram is one that people will keep coming back to.
- Choose a theme.
You may have many different interests, but it is too difficult to convey this on an Instagram account. Pick one as your focus and make sure that the pictures you post related to that theme in some way. At the same time, avoid seeming to be too repetitive in what you post.
- Update regularly.
You may decide to upload a new image every day, every other day or once a week. When you have a rhythm, stick to it, as that’s what followers will come to expect of you, and they’ll be disappointed if there’s nothing new to see.
- Be diplomatic in the way that you respond to comments.
You may not like them all, but there’s no sense in wasting energy responding to negative comments. Develop a thicker skin and focus on the positive comments instead. It’s also good to respond to comments in a general way now and then, so that followers feel you appreciate them.
- Be concise with hashtags.
Some Instagrammers litter their account with multiple hashtags for each picture. This isn’t always the way to go – it smacks of desperation to get people to follow you. Be cool and only choose a couple of appropriate hashtags per image.
While Insta-fame isn’t guaranteed, following these tips should ensure that you gain greater numbers of followers – if that’s what you’re looking to do!
