Let It Snow
Don’t Panic recently published an interesting editorial on our other friends, The Snow Centre, which is worth a read. The Snow Centre is going from strength to strength and Don’t Panic have launched a competition called ‘Doodle and Win!’ where annual memberships are up for grabs.
The Competition – Doodle and Win!
Don’t Panic are running a competition together with our friends from The Snow Centre to design the artwork for a new snowboard. Let your imagination run wild before 28th February 2011 and win one of five Annual Memberships including 30% discount on lift passes, 15% off private lessons and a free hour on the slopes within two weeks either side of your birthday. The winners and 5 runners up will also get a single off peak Group Ski/Snowboard Lesson worth £45 to get them started. Visit Don’t Panic for full details.
The Snow Centre
Keen and cultured followers of London Student Forums will have noticed that The Snow Centre has been one of our favourite things to talk about and one of our favourite places in London to recommend that you visit.
There are a few reasons for this. Firstly, don’t try to convince yourself that you have burned off the extra calories that you consumed over Christmas – skiing and snowboarding is an excellent way to stay in shape and to have fun doing it.
Secondly, January is a depressing time: financially many of us over-spent and are suffering the consequences and let’s face it the gloomy weather is depressing.
The Snow Centre really is one solution that is on your doorstep (well, twenty minutes away in Hemel Hempstead) and is a heck of a lot of fun.
A daypass is less than £30 and for noobs there are lessons
Lessons
There are private lessons or group lessons, which can save even more cash. Skiing and snowboarding are both a huge amount of fun and they’re also very effective cardiovascular.
The British Association of Snowsports Instructors (BASI), highlights The Snow Centre as having some of the most highly qualified and talented instructors in the UK.
Lift Passes
You can get an all day lift pass on weekdays (9am – 5pm) for only £29 throughout January.
Members of the Snow Centre get an even further discount on this January offer: they can be on the slopes from 9 to 5 for only £20.30.
If you’ve got a valid NUS card, you can ski or snowboard for only £25 on Thursdays from 7pm to 10pm (Thursdays are student nights at The Snow Centre).
