How to add colour into your Spring wardrobe

spring

It’s safe to say, your wardrobe is probably an ensemble of black and grey as we emerge from the dreary winter months (or perhaps it’s like that all year round) but once the flowers start blooming and the birds start flirting with one another it might be time to brighten things up. Here’s how to add some colour to your spring wardrobe, painlessly and with minimum expenditure.

Do it with accessories

One of the easiest ways of adding a splash of colour into your spring wardrobe is to introduce some bright accessories. From scarves to bold jewellery, you can quickly and easily incorporate some new shades into your wardrobe and your outfits.

An oversized, chevron print scarf in bold colours looks great over a casual jumper and jeans combo for the weekend, instantly brightening up your look and keeping you warm, while a strong piece of jewellery worn over a black outfit will stand out against the dark colour.

Opt for prints

Florals for Spring, you say? What a surprise! But bear with us, these prints usually feature plenty of colour and can be quickly and easily introduced to your wardrobe. Go for a romantic look which was featured heavily on the catwalks last year, with a floral print maxi dress and loose waves for your hair.

Pimp up your pins

Don’t be afraid to feature some colour in the trouser department this spring, as cigarette trousers and culottes are coming back in bold reds, oranges and blues – perfect for pairing with a plain white tee and a blazer for laidback, office chic. Save the comfy Superdry jeans for the weekend, or go for a white pair to bring a little light into your ensemble – we love these high waist skinny jeans.

Paint those nails

You don’t even need to think about your outfit for this one. A slick of nail polish is the easiest and probably cheapest way of adding some colour to a bland, winter wardrobe and instantly brings it up to date. Pastel colours are still a popular choice when it comes to colour palettes for 2016, but strong blues and oranges are also worth considering and will definitely show up against all the black you’re already wearing.

If you want a polished look but can’t afford to pay for a professional, get to work on your nails then Revlon has created a range of polishes that act like gellish with the top coat applied and last much longer than normal nail polish. There are already 30 shades in the range to choose from!

Feature a bright bag

Okay, so your wardrobe is still all black and grey and there’s no changing that, but if you throw in a strong coloured bag or clutch you’ve instantly brightened things up. You don’t need to go neon or anything, but a strong colour such as a light purple or a blue will still introduce some much needed colour to that outfit and wardrobe for spring.

Be semi permanent

Finally, if you don’t want to buy anything clothing or accessory wise, to jazz up your clothing choices, then why not add some semi permanent colour to your hair instead? A brand such as Bleach London is the perfect choice, as colours last between 2-10 washes and come in a whole host of shades – from striking oranges to bold purples that allow you to get experimental with your locks and add a dash of colour to your look!
